Data Center Leipzig II (WISAG / envia TEL)

For the Leipzig II data center project, a comprehensive shielding concept to reduce low-frequency magnetic fields was implemented on behalf of WISAG and envia TEL. The objective was the protection of sensitive IT and power infrastructure by means of a continuous, electrically conductive shielding structure.

Project Scope

The work focused on large-area wall and switch cabinet shielding as well as the formation of a continuous conductive composite system:

  • Mesh mats (base shielding): approx. 50 m² — Steel mesh (10 × 10 cm mesh size, galvanised) as the base structure
  • Shielding panels LVMD: approx. 130 m² (LVMD A + B) — Shielding of low-voltage main distribution boards to reduce local magnetic field sources

Technical Implementation

The shielding was executed as a combined solution of mesh structure and panel system:

  • Construction of a conductive mesh network for surface shielding
  • Integration into existing electrical infrastructure
  • Combination of mesh-mat and panel systems to form a continuous conductive shielding network, particularly in the area of low-voltage main distribution (LVMD) installations and energy-intensive zones
